UHS once again receives prestigious “Senior-Friendly” designation from national program
April 28, 2025
At UHS, we recognize that receiving essential care in a hospital can be a source of great stress for anyone, especially older adults and their families. Meeting the unique needs of elderly patients is a critical part of the care we provide at UHS, which is why we take part in Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE), a national program dedicated to creating age-friendly care.
For the third consecutive year, UHS has earned the designation of “Senior-Friendly” from NICHE. Receiving this designation for 2025 indicates success in the implementation of high-quality, System-wide initiatives that demonstrate a commitment to the care of older adults.
NICHE is a national nurse-driven program that validates a hospital’s commitment to excellence in the care of patients age 65 or older. As part of our partnership with NICHE, UHS nurses have access to special training in the care of geriatric patients. For more information about NICHE, visit nicheprogram.org.
