UHS Human Resources partners with Junior Achievement Program
UHS Human Resources recently held five sessions with third-graders from Johnson City that focused on community and what it means to be a part of one. This was in conjunction with the Junior Achievement program, organized by the Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program (GBEOP).
GBEOP is a non-profit affiliate organization of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce. GBEOP's mission is to build bridges between schools, businesses and leaders within the Greater Binghamton community to promote technical and professional career development for current and future workforce participants. The Junior Achievement program is one of GBEOP's three main programs.
The Human Resource team facilitated five sessions focused on “Our Community” with the third-grade class from Johnson City Elementary School. The team was able to facilitate several hands-on sessions that focused on what makes up a community, community members and their roles, and business basics. The students were engaged and excited for each session as they were able to apply their knowledge in understanding their own community and how they can make positive contributions in their communities both now and in the future!
Sheri Lamoureux, Vice President for Human Resources and chief human resource officer at UHS, stated, “Our involvement in facilitating sessions with the Junior Achievement program showcases the power of teamwork and our commitment to building bridges between, schools, businesses, and leaders within the Greater Binghamton community though the Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program”.
