UHS employees honored with Chamber HYPE Awards
Two members of Team UHS have been recognized with HYPE Awards from the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce.
Kayla Velie, manager of the Medical Command Center and coordinator of employee health and wellness at UHS, is the 2023 winner in the “Health & Wellness” category, while Gene Swartz, senior business partner in Human Resources at UHS, has taken home the honor in the “Business” category.
Kayla is leading a team at UHS through a transition away from a pandemic mode to a post-pandemic approach to recovery and growth, including work force wellness programming for the UHS System.
Gene has led and provided support for Engagement initiatives recognizing and rewarding staff for their contributions to UHS’ success.
Congratulations also are in order for Cassarah Jones, RN, of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, for being a finalist in the "Health & Wellness" category.
Each year the Chamber’s HYPE Awards recognize young professionals in the Southern Tier who demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession.
Finalists are chosen based on their industry leadership as well as their service to the community outside of their jobs.
A July 13 awards ceremony for the honorees took place at the Riverdale Banquet Hall in Endwell.
This year’s award classifications are: Business, Creative, Education & Training, Health & Wellness, Non-Profit, Service Industry, Skilled Trades, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), and Mentor to a Young Professional.
The recipients were chosen by a selection committee made up of a diverse group of other young professionals in the region.
We at UHS are extremely proud of these members of our team for being recognized for their hard work and dedication to living the Values of UHS every day, on the job and in the community.
