Community responds to Wilson Main Tower with large turnout
Hundreds of residents of the Southern Tier turned out May 18 to get a firsthand look at the new Wilson Main Tower on the campus of UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.
Those attending enjoyed guided tours of the transformational new facility, along with entertainment and refreshments, in an event held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The community preview day was held to coincide with Healthcare Week, celebrated annually across UHS in conjunction with National Hospital Week.
The six-story tower, with rooftop helipad, features a new Emergency & Trauma Center, inpatient MRI suite, 120 private patient rooms with private bathrooms, meditation room, outdoor lobby terrace and Main Street Café.
Other preview days were held this week for UHS employees and providers, as well as for first-responders and other community leaders and partners.
For information on the planned official opening date of the tower, watch for announcements on the UHS website, nyuhs.org.
