Rheumatology Fellowship

The Rheumatology Fellowship at United Health Services Hospitals is fully accredited by the ACGME and is sponsored by the Internal Medicine Residency program. It is a 2-year clinical program that accepts 1-2 Rheumatology fellows each academic year. Our programs’ main objective is to provide high-level clinical education training in the field of Rheumatology and allied interests in accordance with guidelines from both the ACGME and ACR, in order to train highly competent clinical rheumatologists and develop sufficient clinical acumen and expertise to eventually practice independently as a specialist and a consultant in the field of Rheumatology.

Rheumatology fellows at UHSH will have the opportunity over 2 years to work very closely with board certified clinical Rheumatologists in both the outpatient as well as the inpatient setting in order to develop and hone their clinical skills. These clinical skills include medical data gathering particular to the field of Rheumatology, development of clinical and diagnostic reasoning, as well as procedural skills relevant to the field such as joint injections. The outpatient settings include the outpatient Rheumatology Department at the Musculoskeletal Center at UHS Vestal and multiple other allied subspecialty clinics including and not limited to Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Physical and Occupational Therapy, and Podiatry all in the same location. The inpatient setting include both UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY and UHS Binghamton General Hospital in Binghamton, NY.
