Medical Education
UHS is the Binghamton area’s only teaching hospital. It is a major teaching affiliate of the Clinical Campus at Binghamton of Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. The medical education program in Johnson City near Binghamton enhances the quality of medical care available in our community. Many of the Southern Tier’s top doctors graduate from this program.
Our Family Medicine Program is one of the oldest and most respected programs in the country. Because of our size, location and experience, we offer a flexible program that can be tailored to meet varying professional goals. UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City has a dedicated medical education faculty committed to providing one-on-one attention and support, an exciting, diverse group of intelligent and dynamic fellow residents and state-of-the-art facilities. Through a flexible curriculum structure, Internal Medicine residents are afforded the opportunity to focus on their training in specific areas that are of most need in the medical community such as Hospitalist Medicine. The program has over 50 years of experience in training Internists. We are also proud of our Binghamton-area hospital’s Podiatry and Pharmacy residency programs.
UHS has a long history of partnering, collaborating and innovating in healthcare endeavors. In addition to providing teaching staff, clinical experience and residencies for SUNY Upstate Medical University, UHS professionals are involved in numerous research projects. UHS clinical sites are often active participants in clinical research studies in such areas as heart disease, cancer and orthopedics. UHS and Binghamton University are also frequently involved in collaborative studies.
