When life gets busy, find easy access to essential healthcare

March 17, 2025

Simply put, life is busy. As you balance it all, adding one more task to the to-do list can feel overwhelming. When it comes to healthcare needs, it can be daunting to figure out what care you need and how to access it. UHS is committed to providing healthcare in innovative ways while maintaining trust and compassion with our patients. You deserve to have easy access to essential care in a way that works for your needs. That is why we have developed various programs to make life a little bit easier, allowing you to return to doing things you enjoy most.

UHS Virtual Walk-in Clinic

Avoid the trip to the local walk-in and meet with our team from wherever you are with our Virtual Walk-in Clinic. This service operates like an in-person visit and provides the care you need while saving you time and energy. As an accredited clinic, patients can meet with a provider through a video call using a connected device. The provider can perform an evaluation to learn about your symptoms and take appropriate action to get you feeling better in no time. UHS Virtual Walk-In patients are cared for by our trusted providers, the same professionals you'd see in person at a walk-in clinic. For existing UHS patients, the provider has access to your medical health records, ensuring seamless continuity of care.

To start a virtual visit, go to nyuhs.org, click “Get Virtual Care,” and then select “Virtual Walk-In.” If you don’t already have an account, you’ll be guided to create one – the process takes about three minutes and is open to everyone, not just current UHS patients.

Get your prescriptions without an extra stop

We know getting a prescription filled can be time-consuming. That is why our team of pharmacists and staff are here to help with quick refills at our convenient locations, with extended hours. We even offer specialty pharmacy services for those who require specialized medications for complex medical conditions. Our Pharmacy locations are conveniently located across the Greater Binghamton Region, so you can pick up your prescriptions quickly at a time that works best for you.

Our hospital pharmacies are staffed by friendly, knowledgeable people who are here to serve you. We have five locations: Binghamton, Endicott, Vestal, Johnson City, and the Community Pharmacy at Delaware Valley Hospital. Our Johnson City location even offers 24/7 access with a convenient drive-through option that is right across the street from the UHS Wilson Medical Center.

Hospital care at home

Transitioning from the hospital to your home can be a significant change, but with Hospital Care at Home at UHS, you can rest assured knowing you have the support you need for a smooth recovery. Since the program started in 2021, the Hospital Care at Home program has seen more than 2,000 patients as they transition home in their recovery.

There is a lot to consider when making that transition, so we will be by your side through it all. Our dedicated team is committed to providing comprehensive, personalized care tailored to your unique needs. We provide regular check-in calls and appointments with our physicians and nurses to monitor your progress, ensuring you feel supported every step of the way. We know there is no place like home when recovering from a hospital stay, so with the Hospital Care at Home program, you can do just that with the support of our expert staff.

UHS MyChart

UHS MyChart is your secure, online health management tool because your family’s well-being is important to you around the clock — not just during office hours. This secure portal connects you to your UHS healthcare team, giving you access to important information from your electronic medical record, 24/7, free of charge, from your computer or mobile device. With MyChart, you can request prescription refills, pay any outstanding balances, update your medical coverage or even request an appointment with your provider – all at a time and in a way that’s convenient for you.

Having quick and easy access to your medical records offers seamless support before and after an appointment, helping you better understand everything you discussed with your provider. This ensures you receive the care you deserve in a way that best meets your health needs.

Know where to go

As we know all too well, life happens. Sometimes, our bodies feel great. Other times, an injury or illness can appear out of nowhere. Your child falls and sprains an ankle while playing at the park. You catch a bug, and now you’re running a high fever, coughing and more. It can be tough to distinguish where to go for medical care when your symptoms feel unbearable, and it’s at a time when your primary care provider isn’t available.

These days, many types of appointments can be done virtually, including consultations, care for chronic conditions and prescription management. While different options for care are available to stay well, they should never be used in place of emergency care. If you are experiencing a life-threatening medical emergency, call 911 right away.

UHS is working to make sure you have the healthcare you need right at your fingertips. Because when incidents arise, you deserve to receive the right care in a way that works best for you. The next time you need healthcare support, utilize these tools to help you recover faster and get back to doing the things that matter most to you.
