UHS Nurse Leigh Ann Hiser receives Dolores Salanger Nursing Scholarship
Congratulations to Leigh Ann Hiser on receiving the 2023 Dolores Salanger Nursing Scholarship!
The Dolores Salanger Fund was established by Matthew Salanger (retired CEO of UHS, Inc. and UHS Hospitals) in memory of his mother, who was a Nurse. The fund is for Advanced Nursing Education & Research to support the educational aspirations of UHS nurses available through the UHS Foundation. Every year, through an application process, the fund provides scholarships to UHS nurses enrolled in specific advanced degree programs.
Leigh Ann went to school for nursing at SUNY Broome and The Ohio State University. She is currently earning her Master's of Healthcare Innovation from Ohio State as well. Leigh Ann started her career with UHS in 2016 at Wilson Pediatrics. She then moved to the NICU in 2017, where she is a preceptor for new RNs on that unit. Leigh Ann is also the unit council chair in the NICU. She’s a quality improvement committee member, a laboratory council member at Wilson and a member of the Academy of Neonatal Nursing. Leigh Ann is a compassionate caregiver who loves what she does, which was evident when she received the DAISY award this past March.
Congrats again Leigh Ann and good luck in receiving your Master's Degree!
