UHS Maternity celebrates International Breastfeeding Week
August 1-7 marks International Breastfeeding Week. At UHS, we take pride in our support and empowerment of Breastfeeding through staff education and patient resources.
The theme for World Breastfeeding Week 2023 is “Let’s make Breastfeeding and work, work!”. The campaign for this year focuses on promoting practices that help support and empower workplace-related breastfeeding hurdles worldwide.
Breastfeeding, or the feeding of human milk, is associated with a reduced risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Being able to support Mothers returning to work is an invaluable tool that can help them to achieve the goal of breastmilk for the first year of life as recommended by AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics).
UHS offers lactation services for the general public. For more information please call 763-5306.
To celebrate the week, the team made shirts for the staff and onesies for their young patients.
