UHS Delaware Valley Staff Recognized
Every employee within the UHS system, is expected to demonstrate the Values of the organization in their work. The Values include: Compassion, Respect, Trust, Teamwork and Innovation. Colleagues, patients, and/or visitors can nominate any staff member for what is called a L.O.V.E.D (Living Our Values Every Day) award.
Delaware Valley Hospital senior staff regularly review the nominations and choose the person or persons who they feel have demonstrated the most compelling examples of L.O.V.E.D.
Three UHS Delaware Valley Hospital staff members were recognized by the hospital’s new President and CEO, Rolland “Boomer” Bojo, Jr.
Serena Tompkins, of the food and nutrition department, realized that a patient was not eating well, but did enjoy the custard. She made sure there was always custard on the patient’s meal tray, to make it easier for the patient to get some nutrition, while enjoying some of their meal; showing compassion and respect for her patient.
Peg Hansen, BSN, RN, one of the hospital’s nursing supervisors, has been handling much of the weekend COVID-19 testing for over a year. This can be especially challenging given the smaller complement of staff during off hours. She has ensured the process has gone smoothly, efficiently but in a caring manner for our patients; demonstrating compassion, respect and teamwork.
And finally, when a patient on the medical floor was restless and anxious, the staff was trying to find a way to make them more comfortable. Michelle Lamb, a nursing assistant on the medical floor, had the innovative idea of giving the patient a teddy bear. The bear proved to be just the thing to soothe and bring comfort to the patient.
If you’d like to nominate someone for a L.O.V.E.D. recognition, you can do so by filling out a card located in various places throughout all UHS facilities or by going on-line to www.nyuhs.org and scrolling to the bottom of the home page to Recognize an Employee.
