Group offers support for metastatic cancer patients
A new support group is being organized for those who have been diagnosed with metastatic cancer. This 8-week long therapeutic group will focus on finding meaning and hope while living with an incurable disease.
Cancer that spreads from where it started to a distant part of the body is called metastatic cancer. For many types of cancer, it is also called stage IV (4) cancer. The process by which cancer cells spread to other parts of the body is called metastasis.
This group will cover themes which include meaning, identity, legacy, death and dying. It aims to work as a safe space for those dealing with the diagnosis of metastatic cancer to find support amongst peers and oncology social workers.
The group will take place Wednesdays from 2 - 3pm in the Radiation Oncology Conference room. Registration is required and a start date will be announced after the group is filled. Please call 607-763-8084 to register or if you have any questions.
