3 UHS clinical sites recognized for pediatric lead-testing
Three UHS clinical locations have been recognized by the Broome County Health Department for their testing rate of blood lead levels in young children.
The clinical teams are honored for their achievement by receiving 2023 Lead Education Advocacy and Diagnostic Awards, also known as “Leady Awards.”
UHS Pediatrics Chenango Bridge was lauded for posting the highest one-year testing rate in the county, and UHS Primary Care Windsor for the highest two-year testing rate.
UHS Pediatrics Binghamton tied with Endwell Family Physicians in attaining the highest timely venous confirmatory testing rate.
Lead testing typically is done when a patient age 1 or 2 comes in for their annual wellness checkup. A quick finger poke gets a blood sample, with the test conducted using an in-office lead testing machine and the results available during the same appointment.
Many homes in this part of the country have lead paint, which can put children living in those homes at risk of disease.
UHS Primary Care Windsor was recognized with a Leady Award in 2022 as well.
