Walk to Remember' to feature butterfly release

September 27, 2018

UHS will observe Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month by encouraging participation in “A Walk to Remember” in Vestal.

The walk will begin at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Vestal Coal House on the Rail Trail, at 204 Stage Road in Vestal.

As a special commemoration, the event will include a release of butterflies.

There will be rock painting, a resource table and refreshments.

Many parents, family members, friends and healthcare professionals across the country will participate in Walk to Remember events during October.

The quarter-mile walk on the Rail Trail is dedicated to the babies who die each year through ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death.

Whether you are a bereaved parent, relative, friend or caregiver, the walk is a way of remembering a special infant.

The mission of the walk is to come together as a community to support each other in grieving and remembering the life, no matter how long or short it may have been.

The event is organized by the Perinatal, Infant and Child Bereavement Network
