UHS wants people at risk of HIV to be PrEPared
January 20, 2017
UHS has launched a program to offer patients pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), a new medication that can prevent HIV infection.
UHS Binghamton Primary Care will hold a news conference at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 26, in the Russell Room at UHS Binghamton General Hospital, to discuss the use of PrEP. The Russell Room is located on the first floor of the hospital.
The drug is designed for people who are HIV-negative but whose lifestyles place them at especially high risk of getting HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
UHS Primary Care emphasizes a comprehensive approach to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of HIV and AIDS, and is committed to doing everything possible to stop the AIDS epidemic.
