UHS presents food drive donation to CHOW
It was an exciting day for UHS this week, as our team presented the final bounty of donations from our employee “Food Insecurity Challenge.” In total, our employees raised $11,000 and collected over 3,300 pounds of food that will benefit the UHS Food Pantry and CHOW®.
Throughout November, employees from inpatient and outpatient offices across the UHS system came together and hosted a friendly challenge to help members of our community during the holiday season. While hosting food bins in our offices, jeans days and “Jam the UHS Van” events, the UHS team proved once again that our focus is always on serving the community and living our UHS values every day.
Reflecting on the final donation totals, President and CEO, John M. Carrigg, said, “Our employees at UHS saw a need in our community and worked to help provide some relief this holiday season. I am immensely grateful for all the hard work they put into this food drive and how it will help members of our community this holiday season. This drive is an embodiment of the UHS Way and our values as an organization.”
To show their appreciation, the team at CHOW® presented UHS with Certificates of Thanksgiving Gratitude and a special thank you for UHS’ participation in the annual CHOW Walk.
“During the holidays, it can be especially tough for families struggling with food insecurity,” said Les Aylesworth, Director of CHOW®. “UHS stepping up with their generous gift is helping make the holidays a little brighter for them. We at CHOW thank UHS and their employees for pitching in to help us stop hunger.”
A special thank you to the organizing committee for facilitating the food drive and to all our UHS team members for their work in making this year’s food drive such a success!
