UHS Nutrition Month Food Drive provides 20,000 meals for CHOW
Thanks to the generosity of UHS employees, the recent CHOW food drive held in March at UHS will provide 20,000 meals to Southern Tier residents in need.
UHS leaders presented a check for $4,000, along with a truckload of more than 785 pounds of non-perishable food items, to the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse in Binghamton on Wednesday, April 3.
The canned goods and other food, along with cash donations, were collected over a two-week period.
A thank you to everyone who participated across the UHS System, especially to Dan Courtright from UHS Transportation and the UHS Security and Transportation teams for all their hard work in collecting and transporting the donated food.
Special thanks and recognition to Rich Keehle, Associate Vice President, Support Services & Supply Chain, Mitzi Sherba, director of Physician Practice Operations-Primary Care at UHS, Rich Fabian RRT, Clinical Manager Post Acute, Population Health, Jaclyn Zindell, Clinical Nutrition Coordinator and Anne DePugh, System Director Population Health Management Care Coordination for their leadership in organizing this highly successful food drive.
Through its network of nearly 100 partner agencies (pantries, community meals and non profit organizations), CHOW is a local organization that distributes over 175,000 pounds of food each month.
