UHS Labs earn full accreditation
The Laboratory Services Department and Cardiopulmonary Blood Gas Labs at UHS Wilson Medical Center and UHS Binghamton General Hospital have received full accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
The accreditation is based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of CAP’s accreditation programs.
The College of American Pathologists' laboratory accreditation program accredits the entire spectrum of laboratory test disciplines with the most scientifically rigorous customized checklist requirements.
“During this process, inspectors examine the Lab’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years,” said Jagmohan Sidhu, MD, medical director of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Services at UHS. “We are very pleased with our accreditation, as it signifies that we are committed to the highest standards of care for all laboratory patients.”
The CAP’s peer-based inspector model provides a unique balance of regulatory and educational coaching support by the most respected worldwide pathology organization.
The laboratory accreditation program inspects a variety of laboratory settings, from complex university medical centers to labs at physician's offices.
