UHS Delaware Valley Hospital Volunteer Gift Shop Dedicated
Rolland “Boomer” Bojo, Jr., President and CEO of UHS Delaware Valley Hospital took the opportunity at the recent annual staff recognition barbecue to dedicate the Volunteers’ Gift Shop to Mary Hunter, long-term member and president for 21 years.
Having recently completed his first year as the hospital’s CEO, Boomer spoke of his previous tenure at DVH as a registered nurse and how many people had made him feel as though he had “come home;” Mary being one of them. When Mary passed earlier this year, he felt, “there was no better honor, for not only her, but the volunteers in general,” to dedicate the gift shop to her. “She gave her life to making the volunteer organization what it is today.” He presented the award to current president, Wanda VanBuren.
Her daughters, Patty Wood and Dotti Kruppo attended along with other members of her family.
Regarding the award, Dotti stated “She loved all of you and you were so very good to her; caring for her many times. She would be very honored by this as there are many, many, many great volunteers. It was important for her to raise money for the hospital and thousands and thousands of dollars were raised by the volunteers over those years.”
