Trauma Teaching Day marks 3 decades
Highly respected leaders in the field of emergency medical care will be the speakers at UHS’ 30th annual Patrick E. O’Hara, MD, EMS, Emergency Medicine/Trauma Teaching Day this March in Greater Binghamton.
The one-day conference, designed for physicians, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and other first responders and clinicians, will be held from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday, March 10, at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in downtown Binghamton.
The conference has been popular with the emergency medical community for three decades, drawing thousands of participants over the years and such prominent speakers as forensic pathologist Michael Baden, MD.
The seminar’s namesake, Dr. O’Hara, was one of the founders of emergency medical care at UHS.
This year’s presentations will include:
- James Hamilton, former supervisory special agent with the FBI, on survival signals that protect people from violence
- Mayur Patel, MD, attending trauma surgeon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, on 15-minute trauma resuscitation
- Francis Battisti, PhD, State University of New York distinguished professor, on patient-centered emergency care
- Dan Batisie, Vermont state EMS chief, on calls not in the textbook
- UHS physician Matthew Bennett, MD, on provider health and wellness
- Michael Dailey, MD, on complex emergency care
- The conference includes a buffet luncheon
