Shed the Meds Event
Clear your cabinet and ‘Shed the Meds’
Getting unused medications out of your bathroom cabinet can be the first line of defense in keeping drugs out of children’s hands.
Prescription drug abuse is known to be a gateway to heroin use and addiction.
Now’s your chance to safely dump those unused pills.
UHS is joining New York State Sen. Fred Akshar, the Johnson City Police Department, the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and the Southern Tier Aids Program to host “Shed the Meds,” a medication drop-off event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, June 2, at the Oakdale Mall.
The drop-off point will be in the mall parking lot, just outside the back entrance to UHS Stay Healthy.
Just pull up with your unused meds, and you’ll be able to dispose of them on the spot.
The Southern Tier AIDS Program will provide free Narcan training in the Stay Healthy Conference Room at Noon, and free Narcan kits will be offered to attendees. Space is limited so register today at akshar.nysenate.gov
If you can’t attend, visit Clear Your Cabinet, a new website to make it easier for New York residents to dispose of unwanted prescription drugs.
