Senator Schumer press conference at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital
U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer (D) will make a stop at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich on Monday April 10 at 10:00 a.m.
Senator Schumer will announce his plans to present legislation that could financially impact many health care facilities in New York. The proposed legislation aims to permanently instate both the Medicare Dependent Hospitals (MDH) program and the Low Volume (LV) programs that are currently set to expire on September 30, 2017.
UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital is a recipient of both programs and would lose $1.8 million dollars annually should these programs not be renewed.
Senator Schumer will hold a press conference in the hospitals’ main lobby to address the importance of these two programs to many rural New York hospitals. For more information contact Susan Van Meter with New York State HANYS at svanmete@hanys.org.
