Long-term care professionals recognized
The Long-Term Care Administrators of the Southern Tier are recognizing long-term care staff from 13 skilled nursing facilities in Broome, Tioga and Chenango Counties during a luncheon at the Holiday Inn Arena in Binghamton on Wednesday, October 24. This year there are over 60 staff members selected across our region as “Employees of Distinction” at their own facilities..
The event’s keynote speaker will be Mary (Costigan) Wassel, with a presentation thanking staff for the hard work they do, and encouraging them as they continue serving this fragile and deserving population. Mary has a variety of experience in aging services, including serving as a long-term care administrator for many years. She now serves the elder population through her current role as the Director of ProCare with LeadingAge NY., providing consultative services to improve quality and enhance leadership growth in nursing facilities across the entire state. She is well-respected among leaders and colleagues in the long-term care community.
Facilities recognizing staff at the event will include UHS Senior Living at Ideal.
Ideal's Michele Gordon, the event’s coordinator, explained that the event is designed to honor the hardworking staff members of the area’s long-term care facilities. “These individuals provide essential services that contribute to our long-term care residents’ comfort, health and well-being. They are the backbone of the long-term care system, providing hands-on care, managing building maintenance, planning activities and serving delicious, nutritious meals. We are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize their dedication and to honor them.”
The Long-term Care Administrators of the Southern Tier is a professional organization that provides a forum for administrators to discuss issues facing long-term care, share survey and best practices information and more.
