“Go Red” for better heart health

UHS and the American Heart Association will join forces on Friday, Feb. 7, at UHS Vestal, for “Wear Red Day,” raising public awareness of the significance of women’s heart health issues.

A commemorative ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. to mark the day, part of the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" national public awareness campaign.

Speakers will include: 

- John M. Carrigg, President and Chief Executive Officer of UHS 

-Michelle Frear, a patient and nurse who will share her first-hand account of being diagnosed with heart failure 

-Franklin Fry, Executive Director of the American Heart Association

The Go Red Campaign is designed to make women and their loved ones more aware of the wide range of signs and symptoms of heart disease in women.

Free blood pressure checks will be offered and information on the Check. Change. Control. Program will also be available. 

Check. Change.  Control. is a initiative of the American Heart Association, sponsored by UHS,  encouraging individuals  to change to healthier heart habits and monitor their blood pressure.
