Free UHS Diabetes Health Fair
The UHS Diabetes Center and UHS Stay Healthy Center will hold a health fair on Tuesday, November 20, from 5 to 7 pm, at UHS Vestal, 4433 Vestal Parkway East.
Diabetes educators and information on diabetes management, self-care and prevention will be available. In addition to the UHS Diabetes Center, there will also be representatives from UHS Wound Care, UHS Podiatry, UHS Stay Healthy and UHS Vascular Surgery. Information from the American Diabetes Association will also be available.
November is National Diabetes Month. Diabetes affects millions of people nationally and is estimated to afflict over 25,000 people in Broome County alone. One-third of them have not yet been diagnosed. Approximately 300 deaths are caused by diabetes each year in our community, plus numerous occurrences of related blindness and amputation. Educating patients with diabetes in the management of this chronic disease will help to decrease these risks.
The UHS Diabetes and Endocrinology Center is your home for diabetes support and education. A referral from your provider is required for diabetes education or initial visits with our endocrinology team. The UHS Diabetes Center is located at 93 Pennsylvania Ave in Binghamton NY.
This is a free health fair. No registration is necessary. Call 763-6092 for more information.
