Dr. Yarkoni to discuss Watchman at Mended Hearts
Join us for a free Mended Hearts presentation, "Watchman: Stopping a Blood Clot Before It Starts," featuring interventional cardiologist Alon Yarkoni, MD, FACC, director of the Structural Heart & Valve Center at UHS Wilson. The presentation will take place on Monday, Sept. 25, at the UHS Heart & Vascular Institute (formerly Cardiology Associates, Hudson Street, Johnson City). Take the elevator to the second floor, enter the office, then proceed left to the waiting room. Time: 6:30 p.m., sign-in, refreshments and visiting; 7 p.m., presentation.
Dr. Yarkoni will discuss the new "Watchman left atrial appendage device," a first-of-its-kind, proven alternative to long-term blood thinner therapy for stroke risk reduction in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. The Watchman offers a potentially life-changing stroke risk treatment option which can free some patients from the challenges of long-term blood-thinner use.
