Babies born on Christmas bring holiday joy to two UHS facilities
At UHS Wilson Medical Center, Abigail Youmans and Tom Ord received an extra special Christmas gift this year, welcoming their baby boy Cassius on Christmas afternoon. Cassius arrived at 1:19 p.m., at 19 inches long and weighing 6 pounds and 8 ounces.
Baby X'Zander also arrived on Christmas Day, at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, at 19.5 inches long and weighing 6 pounds and 9 ounces. X'Zander's parents, Shawna and Luke, were in town from Theresa, New York visiting family for the holiday, when Shawna went into labor.
Team UHS came together at both hospitals, with caring and enthusiasm for the babies' birth, demonstrating UHS’ culture of Engagement and particularly our Values of Compassion and Teamwork.
The holidays symbolize many different things for many people–extra time spent with family and friends, delicious feasts and, of course, a few extra days off from work.
But for hospitals, there’s no shutting down, no half-day closing and no holiday hours, which means some staff work over the holidays. UHS salutes all of its employees and providers who are on the scene and providing care during holiday hours.
UHS congratulates both sets of parents on their new bundles of joy. Christmas babies always make the holidays bright for our Maternity staff!
