New Emergency Department and Walk-In open at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital

The new Emergency Department and Walk-in Center are now open and seeing patients at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. The new patient entrance is located in the rear of the building near the new main entrance to the hospital. Patient parking and handicapped spaces are available at the rear of the building as well.

Emergency Department

This new and much larger Emergency Department includes adjacent trauma bays, modern medical equipment, close-proximity magnetic resonance imaging and radiology services, as well as many private patient rooms and a centralized nursing station. The new Emergency Department offers the same advanced medical service that was provided in the previous location, and remains physician-staffed and open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The new larger footprint offers the privacy that patients expect from an Emergency Department while at the same time offering trauma and lifesaving services in an efficient manner.

UHS Walk-In - Norwich

This step in the Chenango Medical Neighborhood plan also includes a new Walk-in Center adjacent to the Emergency Department. This service offers a convenient option for minor medical issues and does not require an appointment. The Walk-in Center is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m, and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Walk-in offers treatment for a variety of injuries and illnesses, and can be chosen instead of the Emergency Department for minor conditions.
