Coming soon: New Emergency Department, Walk-In Center at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital

UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital has been serving the Chenango County area for more than 110 years.   The need for local healthcare has never been greater.

Over the last five years, UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital has created a plan for expansion, strategic development and technological advancement called The Chenango Medical Neighborhood.  The plan involved many departments within the hospital, all of which were either redesigned, moved or both.  The pinnacle of the project comes with the building of a new Emergency Department and Walk-in Center on the west end of the hospital.

Both new facilities will open to the public on Tuesday, January 25.

Emergency Department

This new and much larger Emergency Department will include large private trauma bays, modern equipment, close proximity MRI and radiology services as well as many more patient rooms.  The new Emergency Department will offer the same advanced medical service previously provided and will remain open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  The new larger footprint offers the privacy that patients expect from an Emergency Department, while at the same time offering trauma and lifesaving services in an efficient manner.

Walk-In Center

The Chenango Medical Neighborhood plan also includes a new Walk-in Center adjacent to the Emergency Department. This service offers a convenient option for minor medical issues and does not require and appointment.  The Walk-in Center will be open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Walk-in Center provides treatment for a variety of injuries and illnesses, including:

• Cuts, scrapes and minor lacerations
• Muscle aches and pains
• Sore throats and colds
• Urination with difficulty or pain
• Coughs and wheezing
• Vomiting/Diarrhea
• Earaches
• Minor eye injuries or infections
• Fractures and sprains
• Work-related injuries
• Minor motor-vehicle injuries
