UHS employees recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review

July 31, 2024

Our team at UHS is among the best visionary leaders in the healthcare space and you can look no further than two recent lists published by Becker’s Hospital Review featuring three of our very own employees.

Associate Chief Information Officer Kara Hines and Chief Revenue Cycle Officer Kenneth Hogue of UHS were recently named “Rising Stars: 42 healthcare leaders under 40” by BHR in their published list. Each earned this recognition because they possess exceptional qualities in driving the healthcare industry forward to make patient care more accessible, affordable and streamlined.

In the article, Kara was recognized for overseeing, “critical IT functions, including strategic planning, network infrastructure, data management, cybersecurity and technical support. Collaborating with executive leadership, she develops IT strategies that align with organizational goals and ensures system reliability, security and efficiency. Ms. Hines excels in team leadership, mentoring IT staff and fostering innovation while managing relationships with external vendors. Her achievements include leading the system's 2020 conversion to Epic EHR, consolidating departmental budgeting into IT and spearheading the pursuit of Epic Gold Star status, which is currently at eight stars. Additionally, she is actively involved in multiple senior leadership committees, driving continuous improvement and technological advancements within the organization.”

Becker Healthcare Review called out Kenneth’s experience, “Overseeing the entire revenue cycle team, Mr. Hogue ensures excellence in billing, coding, provider enrollments and customer service. His specialty lies in the optimization and transformation of organizations. He played a key role in the implementation of Epic EHR, which has positioned UHS for future success. With prior roles including senior director of revenue cycle at UHS and corporate manager at Allegany Health Network and UPMC in Pittsburgh, Mr. Hogue brings a wealth of experience and forward-thinking strategies to his current position.”

In addition to Kenneth and Kara’s list, Chief Financial Officer for UHS Delaware Valley Hospital LuCinda Rider earned a spot on BHR’s “36 Rural Hospital CFOs to Know.” LuCinda has “led the hospital to a positive bottom line. She has also implemented a strategic investment and cost containment plan that resulted in over 250 of cash on hand. Outside of her role as CFO, Ms. Rider acts as a board chair for UHS Employee Federal Credit Union. Prior to becoming CFO, she was controller for UHS Delaware Valley Hospital.”

This is a second time LuCinda was named to this list and further deepens her strength as a leader in rural healthcare. She adds a pivotal voice working to alleviate issues surrounding patient access, quality care and financial strains for rural healthcare systems. This work ensures patients always have the quality care they deserve when it is needed most.

Kenneth, Kara and LuCinda are instrumental in leading their teams here at UHS and specifically collaborating across our system to embody the cultural values of the UHS Way in their work here in driving our organization forward.

Congratulations to them on this recognition and we wish them continued success in the future!
