Team UHS brings home the hardware at YMCA Corporate Challenge

One way members of Team UHS live the UHS Value of Teamwork is by banding together to participate in charity events that benefit local organizations.
Teaming up with other nonprofit groups gives evidence to our partnership with our community.
Often our employees use their athletic skills—such as running ability!—to bring home a trophy or other recognition. Such was the case June 15, when a number of UHS employees participated in the YMCA’s annual Corporate Challenge, held at SUNY Broome Community College.
The Corporate Challenge is the single largest fundraising event held by the YMCA of Broome County each year. Proceeds benefit the Y’s work in our community.
UHS employees participated in several events including a 5k Road Race, Predicted Mile, Relay Race, and Executive Mile.
Team UHS 5k participants included: Matthew Torto, Kristen Binkewicz, Jason Oziemina, Jennifer Sheahan, Blaine Olmsted, Kayla Velie, Zachary Secor, Randy Millard, Matthew Kotchey, Valerie Butash, Emmanual Mayores and Teresa Butler.
UHS sponsored the Predicted Mile event, which required participants to submit the time they predicted it would take them to complete the 1 mile course. No timing devices could be used during the event! Megan McClure, manager of Medical Social Work was the overall winner for the event coming within 2 seconds of her predicted mile time!
Team UHS Predicted Mile participants included: Megan McClure, Linda Wasser, Michaela Bridges, Jake Bigelow, Randy Millard, and Carol Quincy.
While Team UHS did not have a relay team, we did have representation in the Executive Mile! Linda Wasser, director of Physical Therapy and Rehab at UHS Wilson, placed 2nd for the females.
The UHS Sports Medicine team was also onsite to provide support for the races.
Overall, Team UHS finished 2nd in the large division and received a trophy. Congratulations to Team UHS and all of our Corporate Challenge participants!
