Team UHS attends Greater Good Grocery's Back to School Bash
Team UHS was active in the community once again this past weekend! On Sunday, August 4, UHS Population Health Care Coordinator Caren Bush and Hep-C Grant Peer Support Specialist Patrick Davis tabled for Greater Good Grocery's 3rd Annual Back to School Bash!
Community attendees of this event were given free school supplies and enjoyed an afternoon of food, music, fun, and health education.
The Greater Good Grocery is a non-profit grocery store in Binghamton which supports the food security needs of our community. Greater Good Grocery is operated by the Broome Council of Churches; they sell fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy products, frozen foods, and a variety of non-perishable goods. The store accepts cash, credit, debit, SNAP and Produce Prescription Program coupons. Greater Good Grocery is not just for those who are food insecure; anyone who lives, works, or visits the community is welcome to shop there. The goal is to keep prices reasonable so that everyone can afford food, but the more people shop there, the more income will be generated to help the community.
UHS strongly supports the food security needs of our community through direct donations like food drives and the United Way Workforce Campaign. UHS sponsors Empty Bowls Fundraisers and partners with organizations like Greater Good Grocery and CHOW.
