Family Residency Program at UHS marks half-century
The Family Medicine Residency Program at UHS is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
It was in 1972 that the first class of five medical residents enrolled in the three-year, hands-on learning program at UHS Wilson Medical Center.
In the intervening years, 400 young physicians have graduated from the program, with 100 of them staying in the community to begin their medical practices.
The residency program will be celebrated with a gala banquet on Saturday, Oct. 8, in the Glenview Tent at Traditions at the Glen Hotel and Spa in Johnson City.
Media coverage of the event is welcome, and interviews with two physicians who are graduates of the program can be arranged:
James Crosby, MD, one of the graduates of the original class that started in 1972.
Daniel Young, MD, current program director of the Family Medicine Residency.
