Candor caregiver demonstrates UHS Values with backpack giveaway
The start of a new school year is a very exciting time for children. It can also be an anxious time for some children whose families do not have the means to provide the necessary supplies needed to get things started off on the right foot.
UHS Primary Care Candor provider Casey Taylor, PA, understands this feeling and held the second annual School Supply Giveaway on August 27 at the UHS Primary Care Candor offices.
School supplies were offered, free of charge, to any UHS Primary Care Candor patient in need. From backpacks to pencil erasers, notebooks and crayons, lunch boxes and water bottles, everything was available to make the event a one stop shop for all ages K-12.
More than 30 backpacks loaded with goodies were given to children that day, and several other students stopped by that just needed a notebook or a new pen.
Casey personally engaged with each child and may have had a bigger smile on his face than the children. “This is something I am passionate about,” said Casey, “something I just enjoy doing”.
The items were purchased with donations from Casey, the office staff, grants from the UHS Foundation and UHS Sports Medicine.
This is a wonderful testament to the UHS Values and culture of caring for our patients. Thank you, Casey and all who contributed to making this event possible!
