Activity Survey to be conducted in Walton
UHS Delaware Valley Hospital will be conducting a survey between April 15 and April 30 called The 4W’s of Walton – Who, What, Where & When. The survey is being conducted to gather both the Town and Village of Walton’s residents’ input, regarding the activities they take part in and those they don’t or can’t take part in and what is preventing them from participating. For example, it may be they have no transportation, the time the event is held is too early or too late, or perhaps they don’t want to go alone.
The survey also asks residents how they learn about activities taking place. We know many people do not have access to the internet or a computer and the loss of the local radio station has dramatically impacted the ability of some people to stay updated on what is going on in the community.
UHS Delaware Valley will share the information gathered with organizations, businesses, churches, the school and agencies, so they can learn how best to reach out to community members, when planning events or disseminating information.
The purpose of the survey is to learn more about what might cause isolation and to identify barriers that may be affecting participation in activities. Isolation is a leading cause of anxiety and depression and is often very common in rural communities.
Once obstacles are identified, the plan is to bring together people who will work together to help eliminate those barriers.
Just 12 questions long, the survey is available by clicking here.
Providing contact information is optional, but in order to encourage participation, DVH will be drawing two names the first week and two names the second week from all those who have completed the survey, for $25 gift cards. An additional drawing, for 2 $25 gift cards will take place on May 1, for those who chose to complete a hard copy survey, and have returned it to UHS Delaware Valley by April 30.
